Resin Tutorial
By Jean Campbell

1) What are resin beads?
The beads Jean showed were made in a small village in Java, Indonesia. The liquid resin is mixed with color, poured into containers, and hardened. Once removed, the individual beads are hand cut and shaped into a variety of shapes and sizes.

2) What can you do with them?
The bright colors make them a natural for stringing, but they can be used in all sorts of beadwork. The bead color doesn’t fade, so whatever you make will continue to look like the first day you made it. You can also carve these beads, rubber stamp and emboss them, and glue any number of items (polymer, metal clay, metal, etc.) to them.

3) Is there something to put on the beads to make them look a little shiny or polished?
Use a non-scented light lotion, rub it on with a cloth and wipe off excess. Sometimes the beads come to us with little nicks and imperfections, this is part of the hand made quality.
