Wire wrapping is a simple way to add distinctive flair to your jewelry creations. In this Beading Lesson, we'll show you how to make nested bead components using some simple wire wrapping techniques with geometric Quick Links™ shapes.

You can use any type of shaping wire, from precious metal to German-Style plated wire to ColourCraft® enamel coated copper wire in bright colors. Choose 20-24-gauge wire for durability and overall effect. Thinner wire will be easier to bend, while thicker wire will stand out more in the design. In addition to wire, you'll also need: nylon jaw pliers, wire cutters, beads and assorted Quick Links™ components.

To make a nested bead component, wrap the wire end around one edge of a ring or other geometric links. Press the wire against the link using nylon jaw pliers. Pass the wire through a bead and wrap the wire around the other side of the geometric link. Press the wire against the link and cut off any extra wire.

You can also make dimensional nested bead components by wire wrapping crystal rings onto geometric links. Pass the wire through one edge of the ring, wrap it around the edge of the geometric link; repeat several times. Tuck the wire ends into the coiled wire and press the entire coil against the link using nylon jaw pliers.

If you prefer to keep it simpler, you can wrap wire around the edges of geometric links. Whether you're using ColourCraft™ wire or German-Style plated wire, this technique adds a handmade, boutique-style touch.
