Metal Jewelry Shaping & Polishing











Materials:
- JOOLTOOL™ grinding, sharpening & polishing system
- 3M™ Purple Ceramic - 120 grit abrasive from Jooltool™ mounted onto Backpad & Cushion Pad
- 3M™Scotchbrite™ EXL Fine burnishing disc from Jooltool™ mounted onto Backpad
- Felt Polishing disc from Jooltool™ mounted onto Backpad
- "Fluffy" Buffing wheel from Jooltool™
- Jooltool™ polishing compound
- 3M™ Scotchbrite™ 3" Radial Bristle Brush - 1 Micron grade from Jooltool™

General Grinding & Polishing Instructions
Note: Use full speed (5000 RPM) for all the steps below.

Step 1
- Grind & File the piece of jewelry to the desired shape with the Purple Ceramic abrasive.



Step 2
- Remove scratches from previous step by burnishing the workpiece with the Scothbrite™ EXL disc.

Step 3
- Apply compound to the Felt Polishing wheel & thoroughly polish the workpiece.

Step 4 (Optional)
- For a brighter shine, apply compound to the "Fluffy" Buffing wheel & polish the workpiece.

Step 5 (Optional)
- Use the 1 Micron 3" Radial Bristle Brush to polish prongs, around stones & pavé work,


Chain Polishing Instructions
Note: Use full speed (5000 RPM) for the step below.
- Polish the dull areas of the chain freely & thoroughly with the 1 Micron 3" Radial Bristle Brush.

Stone & Glass Shaping & Polishing
Materials:
- JOOLTOOL™ grinding, sharpening & polishing system
- 3M™ Diamond - 45 micron abrasive from Jooltool™ mounted onto Backpad & Cushion Pad
- 3M™ Diamond - 20 micron abrasive from Jooltool™ mounted onto Backpad & Cushion Pad
- 3M™ Pro-Diamond - 3000 Grit abrasive from Jooltool™ mounted onto Backpad & Cushion Pad
- 3M™ Pro-Diamond - 8000 Grit abrasive from Jooltool™ mounted onto Backpad & Cushion Pad
- 3M™ Pro-Diamond - 50 000 Grit abrasive from Jooltool™ mounted onto Backpad & Cushion Pad
- 3M™ Cerium Oxide abrasive from Jooltool™ mounted onto Backpad & Cushion Pad
- Small container of water

Instructions
Note: Use approximately 1/3 of full speed (2000 RPM) for all the steps below.
Please use caution when operating electrical equipment around water!

Step 1
- Lightly lubricate the stone or glass piece & abrasive with water.
- Grind the stone or glass piece to the desired shape with the 45 micron Diamond abrasive.
Step 2
- Lightly lubricate the stone or glass piece & the abrasive with water.
- Remove scratches & pre-polish the workpiece with the 20 micron Diamond abrasive.

Step 3
- Lightly lubricate the stone or glass piece & the abrasive with water.
- Start the polishing process on the workpiece with the 3000 grit Pro-Diamond abrasive.

Step 4
- Lightly lubricate the stone or glass piece & the abrasive with water.
- Continue polishing the workpiece with the 8000 grit Pro-Diamond abrasive.
Step 5
- Lightly lubricate the stone or glass piece & the abrasive with water.
- Continue polishing the workpiece with the 50,000 grit Pro-Diamond abrasive.
Step 6
- Lightly lubricate the stone or glass piece & the abrasive with water.
- Finish polishing the workpiece with the Cerium Oxide abrasive.
