TIPS FOR DESIGNING BRACELETS

Strung bracelets are typically quick and easy to make, but there are a few things you should think about before jumping in.

1. Remember to leave enough slack in your bracelet to allow for it to bend around your wrist. It’s easy to lay out your piece flat on a work surface, forgetting that the piece will be worn in a circle. I recommend using alligator clips or bead stops to hold your beads on the wire while testing how much slack to leave. When you’ve found the right amount of give, crimp the final crimp tube to finish.

2. Because bracelets bend to conform to your wrist, often spaces form between beads, especially large beads, leaving wire exposed. To prevent wire from showing, consider using spacers or seed beads between larger beads.

3. The average woman’s wrist is 6”. Make a bracelet that expands from 6” to 8” and you should have your bases covered!
