Bling Ring-Toggle Ring
2-drop circular brick stitch with SWAROVSKI bicones and seed beads
 By Leslie Rogalski

Use jet bicone crystals with matte seed beads to form a toggle ring closure that adds a dramatic detail for a variety of designs in bracelets and necklaces.

Skill level intermediate: Apply existing knowledge of herringbone or other stitches to complete the cuff or necklace attached to the ring and the toggle bar. (See TRIAD for a great technique for a toggle bar!)

WHAT YOU NEED
for  a 1" rubber O ring toggle ring:
23 size 4mm Swarovski Jet bicone crystals
4g size 8 seed beads, matte white (amount varies according to choice of cuff design)
Size 8 seed beads matte black (amount varies according to choice of cuff design)
1 rubber O-ring  1" OD
Beadalon WildFire beading thread .006 white
Size 10 hard beading needles
Scissors

FIGURE 1
Work in 2-drop (2 beads per stitch) circular brick stitch stringing white seed beads with jet bicones as the "spokes" with 1 white bead between each spoke.

Step 1. Thread a 3' piece of WildFire on a beading needle. Knot the end around the O-ring leaving a 6" tail.

Step 2. String 1 bead, 1 bicone, 1 bead, 1 bicone, and 1 bead. Pass around the O-ring and back out through the last bead and bicone just strung. Pull the beads snug so you have two "spokes" with 1 bead between them. String 1 bead.

Step 3. String 1 bead. String 1 bicone and 1 bead. Pass around the O-ring and back through the bead and bicone.

Step 4. Repeat Step 3 around the O-ring adding a total of 18 bicone spokes.

FIGURE 2
Work 4 black beads alone in circular brick as the foundation row of the cuff you will create from here on. This tutorial shows the start of a herringbone cuff.

Step 5. For the 19th spoke string 1 bicone and 1 bead, and pass back though just the bead. Fill in the gap on the ring with 4 single bead stitches in circular brick. Exit in position to stitch your cuff.

FIGURE 3
Herringbone is a great and easy stitch to work from the brick stitched foundation, but other stitches can be modified to work, too!
