Using a Bead Board
Designed by Katie Hacker

A bead board is useful for planning designs before you string them. It allows you to arrange the design, substitute beads and see what the design will actually look like. If you want to make a change or realize you don't have enough beads to complete your original pattern, there's no need to restring the whole necklace.

Symmetrical patterns typically begin with a focal point in the center.

Repeating patterns are composed of repeating beaded units.

Random designs can be made of a mixture of shapes, sizes and colors.

Mixed designs combine two or more patterns to create more complex necklace designs.
