Knotted Leather Bracelet by Katie Hacker

Materials & Tools:
1mm round cord from Leather Cord USA
large-hole 8mm round gemstone beads from Dakota Stone
metal button with shank from TierraCast®
Scissors

Optional: Beadalon® Tying Station

Before you begin knotting your bracelet, decide if you want to make a knotted section at each end or if you want to make alternating beads and knots.

Instructions for 7-1/2” bracelet:

  1. Cut one 1-1/2 yard length and one 18” length of 1mm leather cord.
  2. Fold the long strand in half and secure it to your workspace (or tying station).
  3. Center the short cord about 1/2” from the fold and use it to tie a square knot around the long cords.
  4. Make four more square knots.
  5. Add a bead and make another square knot, alternating beads and square knots for 11 beads.
  6. Make five square knots total after the last bead.
  7. Slide a button onto the center cords.
  8. Tie all of the cords in an overhand knot.
  9. Leave about 1/2” tail, then trim away any excess cord.
