Crystal Lacing Bracelets
By Molly Schaller
*Tip: Count the number of times you wrap the wire on either side of the faceted nugget, making sure to match the number of wraps for a professional look.
Materials:
1 9x10mm sea green iris faceted teardrop
1 25x18mm sea green iris faceted nugget
12” 3mm suede lace (I used aqua, purple, and blue for my projects)
18” gold 20 gauge wire
2-4 gold cord ends
1 gold lobster clasp and ring or toggle clasp and chain
2 8mm gold jump rings
Tools:
Round-nose pliers
Chain-nose pliers
Wire cutters
Scissors
Beading cement
Time to make: Under 1 hour
Instructions:
- Cut the 20-gauge wire into the following lengths: 3 4-inch lengths and 1 6-inch length.
- Using the 6” piece of wire, make a wrapped loop, ensuring that the loop is large enough to accommodate the width of the suede lace.
- Slide the sea green faceted nugget onto the wire, and make a second wrapped loop, making a nugget link.
- Cut the piece of suede lace into two 6-inch pieces.
- Pass one piece of suede lace through the loop of the nugget link and fold it in half so that the two ends meet.
- Place a few drops of beading cement onto the ends of the suede lace. Place a cord end onto the doubled piece of lace and use chain-nose pliers to fold the sides over, finishing the end of the lace.
- Repeat steps 6 and 7 passing the second 6-inch piece of suede lace through the other loop of the nugget link.
- Wrap one 4-inch piece of wire around the doubled suede lace, about ½” from the nugget link, around 5 or 6 times, keeping the wraps tight. Tuck the ends of the wire between the suede lace, and trim any excess wire. Repeat on opposite side of nugget link.
- Make a wrapped loop drop with the final 4-inch piece of wire and the other sea green iris faceted teardrop.
- Use 1 gold jumpring to attach the lobster clasp to a cord end; use the other gold jumpring to attach the ring and wrapped loop drop to the other cord end.
