It's easy to embellish your own premade tassel with crystals ! Or, you can use a few simple ingredients to make your own tassel.

Large-hole Swarovski beads make perfect tassel toppers. Choose your favorite shape of bead, then cut a 4-inch length of craft wire. Place the center of the wire inside the loop on a large suede tassel and fold the wire in half. Pull the wire through the bead to string it on top of the tassel. Connect the top of the tassel loop to a jump ring to fasten it to your favorite beaded necklace. Swarovski #5041 briolette shown here.

Add a little bling to your keyring! Use wire cutters to cut a length of 4mm Swarovski cupchain to fit around the top of a large nappa leather tassel. Apply a light coat of 2-part epoxy or a gel-type glue such as Loctite Quiktite gel to the back of the cupchain and press it onto the tassel. Once it's dry, slide the tassel loop onto a keyring, along with a metal pendant or charms that  express your style.

Here's an easy way to make your own tassel using deertan lace, which is a soft, supple type of flat leather cord. You'll need 3mm deertan lace, a 5mm Glue-n-Go end cap, epoxy or Loktite Quiktite gel adhesive (or a similar glue), a ruler and sharp scissors.

  1. Cut three 6” lengths of 3mm wide deertan lace.
  2. Fold the cords in half and hold them together at the fold, making sure that the some portion of the top of each strip is exposed to the outside of the bundle.
  3. Place glue inside the end cap and press the folded part of the cord into the end cap.
  4. Trim the ends of the leather, if necessary, so they're even.
  5. Connect a jump ring or a wire-wrapped bead to the loop on the end cap to attach it to a necklace, earring or other accessory. That's it!
