Instructions
**It’s a good idea to read all the manufacturer’s instructions before using the liver of sulfur patina. Safety first, please!!!

1. Place your metal piece on top of the steel block.
2. Position the first letter punch on the metal and strike down on top of the punch with a plastic mallet.
3. Continue with each letter.
4. Once you are finished punching, drilling, sanding and so on you can antique the piece with a liver of sulfur patina. In this case, we will use it to intensify the appearance of the letters.
5. Dissolve one liver of sulfur rock into 1-2 cups of water-more or less water can be added depending on the desired strength of the solution.
6. Clean the metal piece with dish soap before you put it into the patina solution to remove oil or dirt on the surface.
7. Liver of sulfur is a chemical so you don’t want to get any of it on your bare skin. Please use rubber gloves or tweezers when putting your piece into the solution. Drop the piece into the liver of sulfur.
8. You can stop the patina’s action by pulling the piece out and dipping it into clean water. Leave the piece in the patina until it reaches a jet black color in the recessed letter areas.
9. Remove the chalky appearance by putting some dish soap on a brass brush along with some water and brushing the metal piece.
10. Pumice away the black around the letters. Pumice will dull the metal, but you can shine the metal piece with a brass brush.
