When using stretchy cord to make jewelry, it’s important to choose the right style for your project. It's the perfect choice for making quick and easy, inexpensive stretchy bracelets.

Elasticity is available in .5mm, .8mm and 1mm.  You should choose the diameter of the cord based on the bead hole size. The cord should pass comfortably through the bead holes.

To make a stretchy bracelet, cut a piece of cord off of the spool that's 2-3" longer than the desired length of the bracelet. Place a stopper bead or a small piece of tape over the end of the cord to prevent the beads from sliding off the end.

String all of the beads, and then tie the cord in a knot. It can be tricky to knot Elasticity because it's so slippery. Pull the cord taught and then tie it in a surgeon's knot. A surgeon’s knot is similar to a square knot but you place the cord end through the loop twice.

Place a drop of jeweler's cement on the knot. Let it dry, then cut off any extra cord. If possible, tuck the knot inside the nearest bead for extra security.
